The challenge brief

Think Ahead. Let the Robot Decide.

Teams are given a route and a set of rules. The challenge is to build the decision logic that allows the robot to navigate reliably without continuous manual control.

Agree the mission rules and success criteria during the briefing, then let your team choose its approach.

What shapes the challenge
  • Teams must anticipate conditions
  • The robot receives sensor information rather than human instructions
  • Unexpected conditions expose weak logic
  • The final run is performed with minimal intervention
Inside the experience

Your mission, step by step.

A practical progression from the first decision to the final demonstration.

01

Understand the environment and constraints

Map the route, boundaries and conditions the robot will encounter.

02

Define decision rules

Turn observations into explicit rules for movement, turning and stopping.

03

Build the navigation logic

Sequence those rules in the selected control or programming format.

04

Test edge cases

Try ambiguous turns and obstacles to see where the logic breaks down.

05

Run the autonomous mission

Complete the route without continuous steering and review the decisions made.

Purpose behind the experience

Build capability through participation.

Systems thinking

Connect route observations to explicit control rules.

Anticipatory planning

Plan for conditions the robot may encounter without intervention.

Edge-case thinking

Examine ambiguous turns and unexpected obstacles.

Technical collaboration

Agree a common understanding of what each movement rule does.

Bring the learning back to work.

Autonomous Navigator shifts the team from “what should we do now?” to “what rules will make the system behave correctly?”

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Planning details for Autonomous Navigator. Bring any additional requirements into your conversation with Sieger.

Is this an advanced activity?

It is designed as an advanced option, but complexity can be adjusted using simpler rule sets.

Can teams manually control the robot?

Manual control may be allowed during testing; the scored mission emphasises autonomous behaviour.

Can Sieger customise the challenge for our objective?

Yes. Difficulty, narrative, scoring, team size, duration, venue layout and the workplace behaviour being explored can all be customised.

Can this be combined with other technology experiences?

Yes. The experience can be combined with electronics, drones, robotics, STEM, software, AI and mechanical challenges to create a larger technology challenge journey.

How many people can take part in Autonomous Navigator?

The current planning format is 20–60 participants, organised into teams of 5–6. Confirm the final group size with Sieger so equipment, facilitator coverage and team rotations can be planned.

How long should we allow for the experience?

The indicative activity duration is 90–120 min. Briefing, practice, team presentations and debrief requirements can affect the final agenda; agree the complete session timing during planning.

What equipment is involved?

The proposed kit includes Programmable robot, Line / obstacle sensors, Navigation course, Decision-rule cards, and Test log. Confirm the final equipment list, participant devices and venue requirements with the programme team.

Who is this experience suited to?

The existing format is designed with engineering teams, digital transformation teams, technology leaders, innovation labs in mind. Share participants’ experience levels so the technical depth and facilitation can be matched to the group.

How are the results discussed?

The facilitator can use the agreed challenge rules, team decisions and observed results to guide the debrief. The discussion connects systems thinking, anticipatory planning, edge-case thinking to situations your team encounters at work.

How do we plan a Autonomous Navigator session?

Send your preferred date, location, participant count and learning objective through the enquiry form or call +91 98400 97567. Sieger can discuss the suitable format, equipment, venue needs and proposal.
